Unlocking Marketing Insights with Shopforward by building an Analytical Database

Client Overview:

Shopforward is a performance-based marketing agency that runs risk-free campaigns, only charging clients upon successful sales. They run thousands of campaigns at their own cost and only get paid by their clients if there is a sale. There is a lot of incentive in trying to see which campaigns are the most effective. Therefore they reached out to KYD Analytics to help build a Data Infrastructure to help analyse their data.

Current Stack: SQL Database.

Implemented Stack: Databricks and PowerBI.

Challenges Faced:
  • Lack of unified campaign insights across multiple channels: They are running campaigns in multiple different channels and each channel offers their own dashboards. If they have customers who have ads running on multiple channels they cannot infer if collectively they are going in the right direction with this customer’s product.
  • Data Bottleneck: As of now, they have to rely on their database administrators to extract or export some data they might need to do some analysis leading to slow turnover time and marketers need faster accessibility so they can try different strategies real time.
Solution:

KYD Analytics B.V. collaborated closely with the Shopforward to realise their first iteration of their Data Infrastructure and Provided training to their marketers to better understand how to use Powerbi:

  1. Data Model based on MySQL: Build the first iteration of an Analytical Database in MySQL by taking their 3 important Data Sources of Campaigns, Sales, and Geodata. Transform them into a Dimensional Model ready to be imported into Powerbi.
  2. Empowering their Marketers: Provided comprehensive training to marketers enabling them to independently create reports using PowerBI and derive actionable insights for strategy optimization.
Results Achieved:
  • First Step into their Data Journey: The first iteration of the Data Model is already showing promising insights and value to Shopforward. So much so that they have decided to transition to Databricks soon after our Collaboration.
  • Accessibility to Data and Insights: The Powerbi implementation supported the marketers to be able to swiftly find their insights and work on optimising their strategies. They find so much value in their insights that they have onboarded an internal data scientist to support them in building better insights.
